In many Nepali villages, theatre has proven to be one of the best ways to
raise awareness about witch hunting, girl trafficking, and women's and girls'
rights to health, education, and legal inheritance, among other social issues.
These plays are performed in the street square or in villages, and attract
crowds of curious on-lookers who talk and consider issues raised by the actors.
This kind of awareness program has been very effective, particularly in places
where people are illiterate and uninformed about women's situation. On several
occasions, WF has performed on stage as a part of fundraising activities for
various causes. National and international artists have contributed to these
shows.
