The Organization...

Our organization's structure is based on a democratic system. Anyone who is interested can become a member at any level of involvement they choose. We encourage people to become active in any way they can, even if it is for a limited time or in restricted ways. Our executive board (our central body) is elected from and by WF as a whole. The executive board members then appoint our advisory board.

WHO ARE OUR MEMBERS?
EXECUTIVE BOARD
Our executive board is essentially our "government," and is responsible for running WF at a managerial level. The board has a total of 21 members and is broken into 2 categories. 9 members are full time and are responsible for all daily work of the foundation. These 9 also hold monthly meetings about WF and all the projects that WF runs or oversees. The other 12 members of the executive board attend a quarterly meeting about WF activities, and review the work of the 9 full time officers. At this meeting, all 21 members review every WF program and make a plan for future work.

ADVISORY BOARD
The function of the advisory board is to advise the executive board on all programs. Each of the 7 members of the advisory board speaks on issues in their field of expertise. All advisors take part in the quarterly meetings, and, in addition, can hold an advisory board bi-annual meeting if they choose.

ACTIVE MEMBERS
We have over 250 active members, all of whom volunteer on a part time basis when we need their help. In many cases, these members do not work for WF for a period, but then give their full-time support to our organization when we call on them. They are willing and able to help with any task that we ask of them. Often, they work in their own village.

GENERAL MEMBERS
We have around 3000 general members. General members are people who are interested in working with WF, and want to give support when they have free time. General members most often give support in their field, sometimes in the form of training, sometimes in other ways. After three years of work, they can become active members.

VOLUNTEERS
We believe strongly in having volunteers participate in our work.
